Personal preference is the single most important determining factor when choosing the right size armor for any individual. The wearer must feel comfortable in whatever system and size they choose in order to maximize the effectiveness of any armor system. That having been said, the prior standard for all plates was 10”x12”. Military specifications now include a full range of sizes from Small to Extra Large, however size Medium, 9.5”x12.5” is considered the ideal fit for the 95th percentile, meaning that Medium is designed to fit 95% of all military personnel. 

In order to provide a more easily discernible size chart we focus on the height of an individual as the most important factor in determining proper fitment. See the outline below for a general height / plate size reference. Keep in mind, personal build, and personal preference are the most important factors.

Warranty only applies to legitimate instances of self defense. Does not cover intentional damage or damage resulting from gross negligence. The 26605 is a Triple-curve hard armor, Multi-Hit, Stand Alone, Swimmer plate certified under the NIJ 0101.06 Level IV Standard.. Manufactured from high-density alumina ceramic core (Al2O3) backed with layered polymer composite fiber and finished in a black Cordura Nylon Covering. A foam pad is affixed to the Strike-Face in order to protect against severe drops. NIJ standards require 2 drops. These plates must pass the internal 10 drop test and are inspected via X-Ray prior to environmental and ballistic testing.

Proof of purchase required, only applies to original purchaser, and product must be purchased from Hoplite Armor LLC to qualify. Police report or internal report (if worn in the line of duty) is required as proof of the incident. Picture of the label and serial number is required and must match the serial number associated with the order in our system. Only the damaged product(s) will be replaced. We will replace it with the same product, if unavailable we may replace it with a similar product or reserve the right to issue store credit equal to the original purchase price. 

Warranty only applies to legitimate instances of self defense. Does not cover intentional damage or damage resulting from gross negligence. For example, we will replace your armor if you get shot in a home defense incident. Absolutely our Top Recommendation. This is the perfect combination of coverage and mobility. While the difference between Swimmer and SAPI plates is only a few square inches of coverage area, the cut allows for a far better range of motion.

The 26605 is a Triple-curve hard armor, Multi-Hit, Stand Alone plate certified under the NIJ 0101.06 Level IV Standard. Manufactured from high-density, reinforced alumina ceramic core (Al2O3) backed with lightweight layered polymer composite fiber and finished in a black Cordura Nylon Covering. A foam pad is affixed to the Strike-Face in order to protect against severe drops. NIJ standards require 2 drops. These plates must pass the internal 10 drop test and are inspected via X-Ray prior to environmental and ballistic testing.

The 26605 is a newer, upgraded version of the 26148 and 26135 series with a lighter backer plate, enhanced ceramics and a foam pad on the face to help protect against severe drops

The materials used in the fabrication of these plates allows for projectiles to be absorbed within the plate itself, preventing dangerous spall as is common with steel plates. Don't rely on your carrier to stop high speed bullet fragmentation

That having been said, the prior standard for all plates was 10”x12”. Military specifications now include a full range of sizes from Small to Extra Large, however size Medium, 9.5”x12.5” is considered the ideal fit for the 95th percentile, meaning that Medium is designed to fit 95% of all military personnel.
